Help Test Rooted Before Launch
Rooted is a privacy-first plant care app currently in testing on Google Play. Help shape the first release by testing features, reporting bugs, and sharing feedback.
What is Rooted?
A calm, personal app for tracking the lifecycle of your plants โ from seed to harvest and beyond.
Track & Organise
Keep all your plants in one place. Log stages, notes, and history over time.
Photo Progress
Add photos over time to see how your plants grow. Attach images to events and timelines.
Watering & Reminders
Track watering history and set reminders so you never forget a plant again.
Optional AI Features
Use your own OpenAI API key for AI-powered plant analysis, health checks, and growing guides.
๐ Your data stays on your device. Rooted does not collect, sell, or track your plant data. Everything is stored locally.

What To Test
Here are the main areas worth exploring. Focus on what feels natural to you.
How To Send Feedback
All feedback helps โ whether it's a bug report, a confusing interaction, or a small suggestion.
Report Bugs
If something crashes, behaves unexpectedly, or shows wrong data โ please let us know.
Confusing UI
If something is unclear, hard to find, or just doesn't feel right โ that's valuable feedback too.
Screenshots Welcome
A screenshot with a short description makes it much easier to understand the issue.
Suggestions
Have an idea that would make Rooted better? Feel free to share it.
๐ Small feedback is valuable too. Even reporting something confusing helps improve the app for everyone.
๐ Privacy First
Rooted is designed to keep your data on your device. The app does not collect your plant history, photos, or personal usage data.
Some optional AI-powered features may send user-selected content to OpenAI when explicitly initiated by you. You are always in control of when and what is sent.
When sending feedback, avoid including sensitive personal information. Feedback is voluntary and handled manually.
Known Limitations
Rooted is still under active development. Here is what to keep in mind during testing:
- Some UI may change between versions
- AI-generated advice may be inaccurate โ always use your own judgement
- Backup and restore should be tested carefully, as restore replaces all local data
- Minor bugs and rough edges may exist
- Features marked as optional may require your own OpenAI API key
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to pay?
No. Testing is completely free.
Do I need to keep the app installed?
Please stay opted in during the testing period if possible. Google Play requires a minimum number of active testers to keep the testing program open.
Can I leave the test later?
Yes. You can opt out of testing at any time through the Google Play Store.
Will my data be visible to the developer?
No. Rooted stores your plant data locally on your device. Nothing is sent to any server unless you manually send feedback.
What if the install link does not work?
Make sure you are signed into Google Play using the same Google account you provided when requesting tester access.
